Generic name Quinfamide. Quinfamide is indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of intestinal amoebiasis in two forms: acute amoebiasis and asymptomatic carrier state. Quinfamide not recommended for treatment of nonspecific diarrhea. Quinfamide acts only on amebiasis intestinal tract, both in light and in the mucosal surface, but is ineffective in extraintestinal amebiasis and amebic liver abscess. It is not known exactly how the intimate mechanism of action of quinfamide amebicina, however, in vitro studies have shown that exerts its effect antiamibiano quinfamide immobilizing and incapacitating trophozoites its spread.
